Ford Escort Mk4 Door Mirror Trims: Replacing Cracked or Missing Plates
Updated: Oct 25
If you own a Ford Escort Mk4, the small triangular trim plates on the inside of the front doors, where the wing mirrors mount, are likely cracked, faded, or missing altogether. After more than 35 years, interior plastics get brittle, and a gap in the door card is one of those little things you notice every time you get in the car.
We've designed replacement inner door mirror trim plates for the Escort Mk4 (approximately 1986–1990), and you can get them in two ways: printed and posted from our shop, or as a digital file to print yourself.
What the trim plates do
They cover the triangular section inside each front door where the wing mirror mounts. They come as a matching driver and passenger-side pair, in two styles:
Blanking plate – a clean, solid plate for cars where the interior mirror adjustment control is no longer needed.
Mirror adjustment version – with an opening so you can still reach the original manual mirror adjuster.

Option 1: Printed and posted
If you just want them fitted, we print the pair for you in PETG. We use PETG rather than standard PLA because it's stronger and copes far better with heat – and a car interior gets very warm on a sunny day.
There are three finishes to choose from:
Carbon Fibre Effect – a woven carbon-style surface for a subtle motorsport look.
Textured – a simple, understated finish closer to the original OEM look.
Diamond Effect – a geometric pattern of glossy and matte areas that catches the light as you move.
Spare screw-hole caps are included, and the pair is £27.99. Get the printed pair here.
Option 2: Print your own
Got a 3D printer? The digital file pack is £6 and downloads instantly. It includes:
A Bambu Studio 3MF with four labelled plates, sliced settings saved and ready to print
STL files for any slicer, sorted into folders
Both the blanking plate and mirror cut-out versions
A one-piece "Ready to Use" version, or a "Side Must Be Glued" version where the side is printed separately so the texture covers it fully
Screw-hole caps for every plate

Printing tips
Material: PETG (we tested with Overture PETG) or ASA/ABS. Avoid PLA – it can soften in a hot car.
Build plate: textured PEI. The parts print face down, so the texture covers the whole visible face.
Settings: 0.6 mm nozzle, 4 walls, around 45% infill – roughly 2 hours per part.
Supports: a PLA interface layer gives the cleanest removal (an AMS makes this easy). You can print without it – the supported area sits hidden behind the door; it'll just be a bit rougher.
The files are for personal use only, so please don't share or resell them or sell prints made from them. Download the STL & 3MF files here.
Check the fit before you order
Escorts of this age have often had mirrors or trim swapped over the years, so please compare the shape, mounting points and mirror setup in the product photos with your own car before ordering or printing.
These are aftermarket parts designed by FiveLeaves3D, not genuine Ford components. If you're not sure whether they'll suit your car, send us a photo and we'll happily take a look.
